The Run for Ollee is a Fun Run that is raising funds for children affected by cancer in rural areas like Cairns. Due to smaller population sizes, rural communities do not qualify for complete and quality cancer treatments. Patients have to travel to the closest treatment facilities, which in most of Queensland is Brisbane. Many families pack up and move their entire lives to the other end of the state to get their child the treatment they need to survive. This can mean many things for families; loss of jobs, loss of friends, loss of proximity to relatives, loss of routine, the inability to attend school, loss of a home – the hardships are endless!

The event is being organised by a group of students who are part of the International Baccalaureate program at Cairns State High School. Dynamic Running is supporting the event.
